Types of Requests

This portal supports consumer requests related to personal information that we process as a business on our own behalf in accordance with the US State Privacy Laws.

US States that have enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws currently include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Virginia. Residents of these states are given specific state-level privacy rights.

See below for more information and instructions on exercising these rights.

Opt Out Request

Opt Out requests (called “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” and “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” in California) are available to everyone in the US, regardless of state of residence. You may opt out of the processing, disclosure, sale, and sharing of your data, including for the purposes of targeted advertising (called “cross-context behavioral advertising” in California) and the use/disclosure of sensitive personal information. Note that LiveRamp uses certain “sensitive” personal data (i.e., social security number, driver’s license number) for identity resolution purposes. LiveRamp does not infer characteristics about consumers based on such sensitive personal data, but we still offer the ability to limit such uses through an opt out request. The request may be made by the consumer, a parent/guardian, or an authorized agent.

Access or Request to Know

The right to request a copy of the personal information we have about you is limited to residents in US States with enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws. For this type of request, LiveRamp will provide you with an Access Report which will contain the data we have about you, an explanation of the information we collect, use, or sell, the categories of data we have collected about you, such as the categories of personal information and data sources, and the categories of third parties with whom we have shared your information

Category Access or Request to Know

As a California resident, you have the right to request that LiveRamp disclose which categories of your personal information we collect, use, or sell. When you exercise this request, you will receive a report on the categories of data we have collected about you, such as the categories of personal information and data sources we have about you, and the categories of third parties with whom we have shared your information. [Note: a Category Access Request is different from an Access Request, which returns specific pieces of personal information held.]

Correction Request

The right to correct inaccuracies in your personal data is limited to residents in US States with enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws.

To submit a correction request, you first need to request an Access Report as described above. If you identify anything in the Access Report as inaccurate, you have the right to request that LiveRamp correct the inaccuracies. Upon receipt of a valid Correction Request, LiveRamp will remove the information identified as inaccurate from our systems. We will respond to your Correction Request within 45 days of receipt, and may contact you if we need more time to process your request. Instructions for submitting a correction request will be provided with the Access Report.

Deletion Request

States with enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws.

If you are planning to submit both a Deletion Request and an Access Request, we recommend that you submit the Access Request first, then submit a Deletion Request after reviewing your completed report from us. Otherwise, we will not have any personal information to return to you in an Access Request.

Please note that if you choose to have us delete your information, you will still continue to receive ads online by LiveRamp customers that are advertising online. If your goal is to minimize personalized ads by LiveRamp customers who use our services and otherwise minimize their ability to transfer personal information about you, we recommend that you submit an Opt out Request instead of, or before submitting, a Deletion Request.

Employee Request

California offers data subject rights to former, current, and prospective employees to act on the data that is collected for these purposes. If you’d like to request that we delete, return, correct, or opt out of the data that we may store about you as an employee or applicant, please click on the link below. Please note that the status of your relationship with LiveRamp, may limit our ability to comply with your request. For example, a current employee or former employee within the past 7 years, may not delete all employee personal information related to payroll that LiveRamp has collected on you because we’re required to retain certain information for legal adherence.

Business Representative Request

California offers data subject rights to former, current, and prospective clients and/or vendor business representatives to act on the data that is collected for business contact purposes. If you’d like to request that we delete, return, correct, or opt out of the data that we may store about you as a business contact, please click on the link below. Please note that the status of your relationship with LiveRamp, may limit our ability to comply with your request. For example, an active platform user may not opt out of system notifications.

Right to Appeal

Residents of states with enacted comprehensive privacy laws have the right to appeal LiveRamp’s decision to not process your request. A denial to process will, generally, only occur when a submitter can not successfully complete our identification verification process. When you exercise your right to appeal, LiveRamp may request additional information from you or request that you provide alternative identification artifacts to us manually.

If you have any questions about exercising rights or you have issues submitting your request, US residents can contact us here.

As an alternative, all of the requests above can be made via phone as described in the FAQ section below.

FAQs

What are the rights granted by the US data privacy regulations? What do they do?

Residents of all states have the right to opt out of most processing of personal data by LiveRamp, including the sale or sharing of your data for targeted advertising (called “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” and “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” in California). In addition, residents in US states with enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah) have the right to request to receive a copy the personal information we have collected about you (Access Request), that we correct inaccuracies in your personal information (Correction Request), and that we delete your personal information (Deletion Request). Please note that our current application of opt out is holistic and fulfills all regulatory requirements, including the opt out of what is defined as sensitive personal data by some states.

We will respond to your Opt Out Request within 15 days and your Access, Correction, and/or Deletion Request within 45 days of receipt, and we may contact you if we need more time to process your request.

If you are planning to submit both a Deletion Request and an Access Request, we recommend that you submit the Access Request first, then submit a Deletion Request after reviewing your completed report from us. Otherwise, we will not have any personal information to return to you in an Access Request.

Please note that if you choose to have us delete your information, you will still continue to receive ads online. If your goal is to minimize personalized ads by LiveRamp customers who use our services and otherwise minimize their ability to transfer personal information about you, we recommend that you submit an Opt out Request instead of, or before submitting, a Deletion Request.

What is the difference between an Access Request and a Category Access Request?

Residents of California have the right to request both the specific pieces of personal information held by LiveRamp (Access Request) and the categories of personal information held by LiveRamp (Category Access Request).

Can I make a Household Access, Category, Correction, Deletion, or Opt Out Request?

What if I can’t validate my identity?

If you have attempted to submit an Access, Category, Deletion, Correction, Employee or Business Representative Request via this webpage or our toll-free number and have been unable to validate your identity, residents of regulated states may submit a Request to Appeal and all other US residents can contact us at here.

What if I want to make a request on behalf of my minor child?

As a parent of a child under the age of 16, you may make an Access, Category, Correction, or Deletion, Appeal or Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information Request on behalf of your minor child. You will be required to provide the following information to us so we can verify your identity and your relationship to the child:

  1. Child’s personal information (e.g. child’s full name, child’s email address).
  2. Proof of your custodial guardianship of the child.
  3. Parent’s government-issued photo ID (driver’s license is best).
  4. Parent’s proof of regulated state residency.
  5. Parent’s email address.
  6. Access to a mobile phone number to upload a selfie and copy of the ID card.

Does LiveRamp store data on minors?

We do not knowingly collect or use the data of minors under the age of 16. We may have some data about minors where we do not have sufficient information to identify their age. If we learn that we have collected the personal information of someone under 16, we will delete that information from our database. If you believe we may have the personal information of someone under 16, please contact us here

How do I find out what data LiveRamp knows about me?

In order to find out what information we have collected about you, you’ll need to submit an Access Request through this portal. As part of the Access Request process, you’ll be asked to verify your identity and provide proof of residency in a protected state.

Once you have successfully submitted your Access Request, we will provide you with an Access Report that describes the personal information about you that we have collected, sold, or disclosed in the past year. You may submit an Access Request two times in any one-year period.

What will a Correction Request do?

As a resident of a US state that has enacted a comprehensive privacy law you have the right to request to correct inaccuracies in your personal data.

For this type of request, you first need to request an Access Report. If you identify anything in the Access Report as inaccurate, you have the right to request that LiveRamp correct the inaccuracies. Instructions for submitting a correction request will be provided with the Access Report. Upon receipt of a valid Correction Request, LiveRamp will remove the information identified as inaccurate from our systems.

We only hold the information from an Access Request for a short period of time, as necessary to complete the request. So we ask that you submit Correction Requests within 30 days of receiving your Access Request so that we still have the information from the Access Request available to take the requested corrective action.

How do I delete the data that LiveRamp knows about me?

In order to delete the information we have about you, you’ll need to make a Deletion Request through this portal. As part of the deletion process, you’ll be asked to verify your identity and provide proof of residency in a protected state.

Please note that if you choose to have us delete your information, you will still continue to receive ads across the internet. In addition, your information may later reenter our databases and, because we deleted all of your information, we will not have the ability to recognize you as someone who wishes to minimize the future use or sale of your data. If your goal is to minimize personalized ads by third parties who use our services and minimize their ability to transfer personal information about you from one place to the other, we recommend that you submit an Opt out Request instead of a Deletion Request.

What is the difference between a Deletion Request and an Opt out Request?

An Opt out request, (called “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” and “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” in California) is more effective than a Deletion Request to minimize personalized advertising by clients using our services, to prevent clients from transferring your personal information, and to prevent LiveRamp from selling your personal information in the future.

This is because when you submit a Deletion Request (as opposed to an Opt out Request), we delete your personal information and, therefore, we cannot do anything to actively minimize the use of your personal information through our services. Consequently, our clients might still use our services to attempt to advertise to you or transfer your information from one place to another. In addition, your information may later re-enter our databases and, because we deleted all of your information, we will not have the ability to recognize you as someone who wishes to minimize the future use or sale of your data. On the other hand, if you make an Opt out Request, we will place your identifiers on a filter to prevent, to the best of our ability: (1) LiveRamp clients from serving you personalized ads (2) LiveRamp clients from transferring your personal information, and (3) LiveRamp from “selling” your personal information in the future.

How long does LiveRamp have to respond to my Request?

We will respond to your opt out request within 15 days of receiving your request.

We will respond to your Access, Category, Correction or Deletion Request within 45 days of receiving your request. If we need more time to process your request, we will notify you within the first 45 days and will request an extension for up to an additional 45 days. If we find that we are unable to respond to your request, we will let you know why and provide your rights to appeal our decision.

We will respond to an Appeal request within 60 days of receiving your request.

I opted out. Why am I still seeing advertisements?

We respect the desire to opt out of services enabled and facilitated by LiveRamp. Submitting an Opt out (called “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” and “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” in California) means that your data will no longer be used for targeted advertising by our clients who use our services. You may still receive targeted advertising but it will not be fueled by our products or services, or they will not be relevant to your interests and preferences.

We recommend that you also opt out using the Digital Advertising Alliance’s (DAA) opt out page. This solution will give you broader reach in opting out of ads based on your interests.

How do I stop receiving personalized advertising?

If your goal is to minimize personalized ads by advertisers who use our services, we recommend that you submit an Opt out Request and we will place your identifiers on a filter to minimize our clients’ ability to serve you personalized ads or otherwise transfer your personal information using LiveRamp’s services.

What is an Employee Request?

An employee request is a rights request specific to the information that we hold relating to your relationship to LiveRamp as an employee or applicant for employment or similar relationship (e.g., contractor) or to administer benefits relating to an employee. To continue to provide ongoing services related to employment and to comply with legal requirements to retain employee data, it is often not possible to delete personal information held for employees. Since LiveRamp does not sell or share employee data, an opt out is not available for employee data. Employee data requests are only available to California residents.

Business Representative Request?

A business representative request is a rights request specific to the information that we hold relating to your relationship to LiveRamp as an employee, contractor, or similar role with another company receiving products or services from LiveRamp. To continue to maintain ongoing services with our clients and/or vendors and to comply with legal requirements to retain business-related data, it is often not possible to delete personal information held for business representatives. Business Representative data requests are only available to California residents.

Why are you asking me for personal information and/or a selfie to verify my identity?

LiveRamp does not have direct relationships with individual consumers. As such, we cannot maintain consumer password-protected accounts that can be readily used to verify your identification. We use third-party identity verification services in order to protect your personal information. The data requested to verify your identity does not create an account with LiveRamp or these third parties. The data is only used and stored as necessary to process your request.

How can I appeal a decision to refuse my request?

If you receive a notice of refusal to take action on a request, most likely due to a failed identity verification, a resident of a regulated state may appeal our decision. You may submit your appeal via the link on this page. LiveRamp will review your request and will likely reach out to you via email to request additional information about your submission. Within 60 days of receipt of the appeal, LiveRamp will inform you in writing of any final action taken or not taken in response to the appeal, including a written explanation of the reasons for the decisions. If the appeal is denied, LiveRamp will also provide you with contact information to file a complaint with the appropriate state Attorney General.

When verifying my identity, what if I don’t receive a text message to upload my ID & selfie?

If you experience technical issues during submission or fail to receive a text message to upload your ID and/or selfie when verifying your identity, please contact us here.
