Opt-Out Request


LiveRamp offers all consumers, regardless of place of residence, the ability to opt-out of our enablement of targeted advertising. We offer three types of opt-outs to assist you in exercising the greatest control over your information. These are a cookie based opt-out, a mobile opt-out, and a permanent opt-out.

What do the different opt-outs do?

Our Cookie Opt-Outs place an opt-out cookie on your browser that disables our ability to place data collection cookies on your browser in the future (this opt-out is reversible if you would like to begin receiving targeted advertisements from LiveRamp again; to reverse the opt-out, locate your browser settings and select "Clear Browsing Data" or "Clear Cookies"). The Digital Advertising Alliance also provides you the option to immediately apply a cookie-based opt-out here. Please note: cookie-based opt-outs are tied to specific devices and browsers. To opt-out of all cookie-based data collection, you will have to opt-out using each browser. Further, every time cookies are deleted, e.g., by clearing browsing data, the opt-out cookie will also be deleted.

Our Mobile Opt-Out takes your Mobile Advertising ID (MAID) and moves it to a filter. When we see that MAID in the future, the filter prevents our system from distributing the MAID or information associated to it. Just like the Cookie Opt-Out, your Mobile Opt-Out can be reversed if you choose. Specific methods to reverse the opt-out vary based on your operating system (e.g., Apple iOS vs. Google Android), but both offer the ability to reset your MAID in the device settings.

Our Permanent Opt-Out opts you out of the LiveRamp system based on your email address and postal address and prevents us from distributing any information we have associated to you going forward. We add your information to a filter, when we see that information appear again, the filter catches it and stops it from being sent out of our system. If you have multiple email addresses, you should opt out using each of them.

Please note: It may take up to 30 days to complete this permanent opt-out process. Further, even if you opt out of targeted advertising from LiveRamp, you may still receive targeted advertisements from other companies.

What is the process?

Cookie Opt-Outs: Click on each of the three opt-out buttons below and follow the instructions to place opt-out cookies on your browser. These opt-out cookies will prevent LiveRamp from using data-collection cookies on your device going forward.

Mobile Opt-Out: We will ask for your Mobile Advertising ID (MAID) which can be found in the settings section of your mobile device. We will then move this ID to our opt-out filter, which prevents our system from distributing any information associated to your ID going forward.

Permanent Opt-Out: We will ask for personal information such as email address, postal address and phone number. We will then locate any IDs that we have tied to you in our system. Once we find all of those, we will move them to our opt-out filter. This prevents our system from distributing any information associated to your IDs going forward.

How is this different from deletion?

When you opt-out, LiveRamp retains limited information in our system to prevent the information and any new information associated with it from being used in the future. On the other hand, deletion removes all your data from the system, including any signals an opt-out would put in to prevent any future information from being used to build a new profile on you. In other words, if you run a deletion request, our systems forget everything about you, including the fact that you told us to forget everything about you.

Because of this, in the long run, an opt-out is more effective at ensuring we do not use your data for targeted advertising.


LiveRamp’s Mobile Opt Out allows you to opt out different types of mobile advertising IDs (MAIDs), which are similar to cookies but used on mobile devices. MAID is a general term, and the specific term varies based on your mobile device: it is advertising IDs (AdIDs), if you have an Android phone, and Identification for Advertisers (IDFAs), if you have an iPhone. MAIDs are used in apps on your mobile device to deliver advertisements that are personalized to you through LiveRamp’s services and our use of your data.

Please note: if you edit your mobile settings on your device or get a new mobile device, you may have to opt out again in the future through this process.

To submit your mobile opt-out, please take the following three steps:

  1. First, click on the "I'm not a robot" checkbox
  2. Next, locate your MAID and input it into the "Enter Device ID" field box below. Click here to find out more information on how you can find your MAID.
  3. Finally, indicate whether you have an iPhone MAID (IDFA) or an Android MAID (AdID) and click the "Opt Out" button.
